PAYUL DECHEN GAWELING MONASTERY

The monastery offers very calm and serene atmosphere which is currently in renovation. The
monastery was founded by H.E. Payul Lathul Rimpoche in 2006 and follow tradition of
Ningmapa School of Tibetain Buddhism. The monastery is quite huge in structure and can
accommodate hundreds of monks. People can witness the monks offering prayers and practices
everyday from 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. everyday. Phurbo Thordo Puja is the main event of the
monastery which happens only once a year. This puja is done for the world peace and to remove
all the negative energy from the world. During the month of december one can enjoy Mask dance
(cham) and gutar puja. One can also witness loosong and namsoong festival in the monastary.
Tourist can talk a walk from Sribadam till the monastary and can enjoy scenic view and
greenery around.

LOCAL EVENTS & FESTIVALS:
Loosong festival is observed in grant manner in the monastery. The festival is celebrated in the
month of December. During the festival cham dance (monks wear mask and costume) is
performed. People from different places visit the monastery to witness the dance and to offer
prayers in the monastery.
