District Administration

The District of Soreng was established as one of the new Districts in Sikkim after carving out Soreng as a new District from the Erstwhile West District. This new District of Soreng became officially functional on April 07, 2022 after it being dedicated to the public by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).

 Smt. Yishey D. Yongda , SCS took over the charge as the first District Collector and District Magistrate while Shri J Jayapandiyan, IPS, took over as the first Superintendent of this newly established district.

Soreng District, with its Headquarters at Soreng, is headed by the District Collector who oversees the overall administration of the district and co-ordinates the functioning of all other State Government Departments and PSUs within the District.

The Office of the District Collector has several sections which are supervised by various officers of the ranks of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Deputy Secretary and equivalent and above ranks. The District Collector is supported by the Additional District Collector who looks after certain sections of the district administration.
