RINCHEN CHOLING MONASTARY
Rinchen Choling Monastary was established by The Gurung Buddhist Society in 1996 and thus it
is also known as Gurung Gumpa. It is located in Megi Dara nearby Rinchenpong town. It is
believed that monastary is erected on the ruined site of a Tshamkhang where once Lt. Reesum
Lama( who was one of the active innovators of dharma in Sikkim during this time)spent time in
meditation. One can visit the monastary to seek blessings and peace of mind as it is just short
walk away from Rinchenpong Town.

LOCAL EVENTS & FESTIVALS:
Tamu Losar or New Year of Gurung Community is observed in the monastery. The festival
celebrated on 30th of December every year. The Gurung community showcase their culture, food
and traditions.

By Air
Bagdogra in Siliguri is the nearest airport to reach the destination. Which is about 130- 135 kms from Rinchenpong. One can hire cab or pre book through travel agencies to reach the destination
By Train
New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station to reach the destination. From Siliguri one can hire or take share cab till Rinchenpong
By Road
From Gangtok(capital) the tourists can travel through rented cabs or share cabs to reach the destination, which takes about 3-4 hrs
